IN THE PRESS

AJAX POETRY BOOK 'POËZIE ZO FIER EN KOEN'

My poem 'De Vergeten Godenzoon' was selected for publication in a book collecting poetry about Dutch professional football club AFC Ajax from Amsterdam. 50 poems were selected from a total of about 150 submissions. On top of this, the panel of judges, including renowned TV-presenter Matthijs van Nieuwkerk, picked my poem as one of the ten favourites that would be competing for the first prize.

On November 30th 2022, during an evening attended by, among others, Frits Barend and David Endt, at Elsa's Café in Amsterdam, it was announced that the jury had chosen my poem as the winner of the competition. The prize (a cheque, but most of all, the honour) was presented to me by Sjaak Swart, also known as Mister Ajax.

'Ajax: Poëzie Zo Fier en Koen' is published by Uitgeverij Gopher and also includes (mostly older) poems by, among others, Nico Scheepmaker, Freek de Jonge, Mart Smeets and Henk Spaan.

CITY POET OF GOUDA - ELECTION 2020

In the spring of 2020 I participated in the election of the 10th City Poet of Gouda, my hometown. Having virtually no experience with performing onstage, I made it to the finals, together with Jeffrey van Geenen and Peter Noordhoek. The latter was eventually elected.

'STAY SAFE THIS SUMMER' CAMPAIGN

In the summer of 2020 I teamed up with longstanding collaborator Diepgraven Records, for whom I've been doing art direction for over five years. We wanted to generate some awareness for people with mental illness who took a particularly hard hit during the Covid-19 pandemic. Being someone struggling with mental illness myself, I designed a totebag and a postcard, which we released under the banner of Diepgraven Merch. All profits from the campaign were donated to Wij Zijn Mind, a foundation aimed at the support of people who struggle with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and other related mental issues.
